This is how Coupide works.

Get started in three steps

1. Create an account. Enter your email address and we’ll send you a sign-in code. No password needed.
2. Draw your first date. Pick a quick choice or your own wishes and press Draw our date.
3. Invite your partner. With an active subscription, create an invitation code and send it to your partner. They sign in with their own email address and join the same space.

Registering gives you two free trial ideas to browse and draw right away. Saving dates and memories and inviting your partner need a subscription. You can invite your partner later, too.

Signing in and your account

You sign in with your email address. You’ll get a message with a six-digit code and a sign-in link. Use either one.

• The code and the link are valid for 15 minutes. Use either the code or the link once; after that both stop working.
• If you ask for a new code, only the newest one works.
• The link signs you in on the device where you open it.
• You stay signed in for up to 90 days after signing in, unless you sign out.

You can change your name, email address and reminder preference under My account. A new email address is taken into use once you confirm it with a code sent to that address.

Once the change is confirmed, you’re signed out on your other devices. The device you confirmed it on stays signed in. From then on, sign in with the new address.

Drawing a date

First choose what kind of date suits you today, then let chance decide.

• Quick choices: Something right now (up to an hour), At home tonight (up to two hours) and For the weekend. A quick choice fills in your wishes, and you can change them before drawing.
• Mood: at home, outdoors, closeness or something special.
• More wishes: free ideas only, need for preparation, time available, weather and season, and things to do without cafés, shops or other services.
• Only draw ideas not drawn yet: leaves out the ideas already drawn on this device.

Every idea has a description, the things you need, preparations and instructions, plus an approximate duration. Preparations and travel can make the total time longer.

The filters are based on what each idea requires. The service doesn’t check the weather forecast or the opening hours of local services.

Surprise dates

Choose Surprise for my partner when one of you organizes the date and the other comes along without knowing what you’ll do.

1. Choose the organizer: you, your partner or at random.
2. Your partner looks away for a moment while the organizer opens the secret task.
3. The organizer sets the time and writes the practical details the partner will see: meeting place, dress code and other instructions.

The partner sees the time, the organizer and the practical details. The idea and the preparation tasks are shown only to the organizer. Only the organizer can reschedule or cancel the surprise and save a memory of it.

Don’t write the idea in the practical details if you want to keep it secret. The invitation text you can copy contains only the time, the organizer and the practical details.

Planning dates and preparations

When the draw hits the mark, press Let’s plan this date. Choose a day and a time. Add preparation tasks if needed, each with a person responsible and a deadline. The service suggests tasks based on the idea’s preparations.

• Upcoming dates and open preparations are shown below the draw and on Our page.
• When you reschedule a date, the deadlines of unfinished tasks move by the same amount.
• If you’re doing something of your own, choose Plan it yourselves and describe the plan in your own words.
• Once the date is done, press We did this. You can then save a memory of it.

Reminders are emailed at the time you chose: dates according to your preference in My account, tasks to the person responsible, and important days at 9 am.

Our page and memories

Our page brings together your upcoming dates, preparation tasks, important days and shared memories.

• A name and a date are enough for a memory, and they’re filled in for you. Photos and text are optional.
• You can add up to 12 photos to one memory. Photos are resized automatically before saving. On a phone you can also take a photo directly.
• You can also save a memory without drawing, with Add your own moment.
• Both of you can comment on memories and mark them as favorites. You can edit and delete only the memories you saved yourself.
• You can search memories by text and filter them by year or by your own favorites.

You can give feedback on ideas: 👍 We liked it, 👎 Not our cup of tea or ❤️ We loved it. The feedback is shared by the two of you. Pressing the same choice again removes the feedback.

Sharing a memory

A memory’s Share button opens editable text and a choice of photo. Nothing is published automatically.

1. Edit the text and press Copy text.
2. Press Share photo and pick, for example, Facebook or a messaging app from your device’s share menu.
3. Paste the copied text in the target app (⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+V on Windows, a long press on a phone).

The memory text, the name of the person who saved it and the date aren’t added to the shared text automatically. If your browser can’t share photos, save the photo with the Save photo button and add it yourself.

Important days

Add anniversaries, birthdays, name days and your own special days under Important days on Our page. The days are visible to both of you, but each of you chooses your own reminders: on the day, a day before or a week before.

• When an important day is coming up, you can open it while drawing and draw a celebration date or plan it yourselves.
• A recurring 29 February is shown on 28 February in years that aren’t leap years.

Inviting your partner

A shared space has two people, and each has their own account and email address.

1. The person who created the space makes an invitation code with Invite your partner and sends the invitation link or code to their partner.
2. The partner signs in with their own email address.
3. The partner opens the invitation link or enters the code under Got an invitation?

The invitation is valid for 7 days and can be used once. A new invitation replaces the previous one.

Subscription and free trial

When you register, you get two date ideas with instructions for free. You can browse and draw them. The full selection, the shared space, saving and inviting your partner come with a subscription.

• Monthly subscription €3.99 / month or yearly subscription €39.90 / year.
• One subscription covers both of you. Your partner joins with an invitation, without a subscription of their own.

Buying a subscription isn’t available yet. Registering doesn’t start a subscription or charge you anything.

Language

Coupide is available in English, Finnish, Swedish and Estonian. At first it follows the language of your browser or phone: it uses the first of these languages in your language settings, and English if none of them is there.

• You can change the language at any time from the language menu at the top of the page.
• Your choice is saved on the device and, when you’re signed in, to your account. The emails we send you then use the same language, and so do your other devices where you haven’t chosen a language yourself.
• The language is personal, so you and your partner can use different languages. Memories, comments and other text you write yourselves aren’t translated.

Privacy and deleting your account

The memories, photos, dates and important days in your shared space are visible only to the two of you. Photos are always fetched through a sign-in and membership check, and they have no public addresses.

You can delete your account under My account. The deletion is confirmed with a code sent to your email, and it can’t be undone.

• If your partner stays in the shared space, the shared memories, photos, dates, important days and the remaining subscription time stay with them, and they can invite a new partner. Upcoming surprise dates you organized are deleted without revealing them.
• If you’re alone in the space, the whole space is deleted along with its photos.
• Your own comments, favorites and reminder preferences are always deleted.
